First appointment?
Take a deep breath.
We understand this is a big step for you and your partner – financially and emotionally. After all, your future as parents and as a family is at stake. At WRM, we'll do everything we can to put your mind at ease and give you all the facts so you can make a well-informed decision. What to expect
At your first visit, you'll meet Dr. Rachel Bennett and her team in a low-stress setting, with absolutely no pressure. You'll find our staff friendly, caring and supportive, and very respectful of appointment times. Don't be afraid to ask us anything, whether about medical procedures, costs or anything else. We will make sure no question goes unanswered. How to prepare
If you've had any prior testing or treatment, please bring your records to the first appointment. The following information is especially important (please call our office if you need more guidance):- Cycle day 1 to 4 FSH and estradiol level or AMH level
- Hysterosalpingogram – please try to obtain a copy of the film (or a CD of it) from the radiology facility where you had this performed, in addition to the printed report
- Sonohysterogram
- Any hormonal testing (i.e, thyroid, prolactin, testosterone levels, etc.)
- Basal body temperature charts if you've done them
- Semen analysis and any other relevant records on the male partner
- Results of any workup you've had for infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss
- Most recent pap smear and/or cervical cultures
- Records of prior ovulation induction or IVF cycles
- Operative notes for any prior surgeries
Should your partner be present?
We recommend both partners come to the first appointment. If that isn't possible, it's fine to come without your partner, as there will be other opportunities for either or both of you to meet with Dr. Bennett.Getting to a plan for treatment
After reviewing your medical history and situation, Dr. Bennett will request any tests necessary to reach a diagnosis. These may include FSH Estradiol levels, ultrasound, hysterosalpingogram, sonohysterogram or hysteroscopy or laparoscopy for the woman and a semen analysis for the man. Once the causes of infertility have been established, we'll recommend a personalized treatment plan.
